Hi, I'm Shirley Goodwin.   I've been dyeing wool for over 10 years, and fabric for even longer.  I'm a member of Creative Fibre New Zealand and the Oamaru Textile Emporium (TOTE).

Black Forest Yarns is named after the Black Forest at Naseby, Central Otago, where I hope to be living soon.  Currently, I'm based in Oamaru.  My yarns are also available at TOTE and on my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/BlackForestYarns/

My yarns are mainly hand-painted or dyed by a combination of methods.  I specialise in semi-solid and variegated yarns, but I also produce solids and occasional gradient. I'm a custom dyer, so you're not limited to what you see here on the website.

Please note that, due to the individual nature of my dyeing process (ie not all dyed in a large pot by traditional methods), there will be slight differences between each skein, even of the same colourway, due to the unpredictability of the hand dyeing process.  If you are making a garment or item requiring multiple skeins, I recommend that you alternate skeins throughout your work to avoid any differences being visible.
